James Machine Works provides a generous donation to LDCC welding program

West Monroe- LDCC West Monroe is thrilled to announce the generous donation of two storage tank half-sections from James Machine Works. This contribution marks the beginning of a promising collaboration among LDCC, James Machine Works, Northeast Louisiana Manufacturing Alliance & Consortium (NELA-MAC), and other esteemed local manufacturing companies.

The donated storage tank half-sections will significantly enrich the hands-on learning experiences of LDCC West Monroe welding students. This partnership not only strengthens LDCC's commitment to workforce development but also emphasizes the collective effort of industry leaders to support education and skill-building initiatives within the community.

"We want to thank James Machine Works and NELA-MAC for this donation to our welding shop," said Jeremy Womack, welding instructor at LDCC West Monroe. "These tanks will give our students more hands-on practice and opportunities, helping them as they work towards their careers in the field.”

Marty Herlevic, Vice President and General Manager of James Machine Works, personally engaged with LDCC West Monroe welding students, offering insights into diverse career pathways and highlighting the financial aspects of various roles within the industry. Herlevic also focused on the mutually-beneficial nature of this partnership. "These contributions will give Louisiana Delta Community College students the ability to work on more real-world projects. This gives them the opportunity to hone their skills, and in turn, allow us to potentially receive employees that are work-ready,” Herlevic explains.

LDCC West Monroe looks forward to furthering its partnership with James Machine Works, NELA-MAC, and other local manufacturing companies to provide students with the tools and experiences necessary for success in the workforce.
